Switch the Bottle

What happens to what you give us

Written in plain language, because a petition asking companies to be straight with their customers should be straight with its own.

Who is asking

Switch the Bottle is run by GreenFrog Packaging®, which supplies BioBottles® — the biodegradable bottles the campaign asks brands to adopt. We have a commercial interest in the outcome and we would rather say so on the first screen than have you discover it later. Nothing on this site requires you to buy anything from us, and signing does not make you a customer or a lead.

What we collect

  • Your first and last name. Required — a petition of anonymous entries persuades nobody.
  • The brand you chose, and your message.
  • The portrait you picked. This is an illustration you select from a fixed set. It is not a photograph, it is not generated from anything about you, and we draw no conclusions from your choice. When your message is published, we may present an AI-drawn lifelike rendering of that same chosen illustration — it depicts the fictional character you picked, never you, and published posts say so.
  • Your email address and phone number — both optional. Leave them blank and your signature still counts in full.

What gets published

If you tick the consent box, your message may be published on this site, on LinkedIn, and on Reddit, attributed to your first name, your last initial, and the portrait you chose(or an AI-drawn lifelike rendering of it, labeled as an illustration) — for example, “Maria G.” That is the whole of what appears publicly.

Your email address and phone number are never published anywhere, in any form. If you do not tick the box, your message is not published and not delivered.

Who we share it with

Your name and your message go to the brand you selected — that is the entire point of signing. We deliver messages in batches, so a brand receives them as a group of customers rather than one email at a time.

Your contact details are not included in what we send the brand. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not add you to marketing lists. We do not pass it to data brokers, advertising networks, or any third party beyond the brand you chose and the technical services below that are needed to operate the campaign.

How we contact you

Only if you gave us a way to, and only about this campaign: one message when yours is delivered, and occasionally if the brand responds. That is it. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can reply “stop” to any text.

How it is stored

Everything is submitted over an encrypted connection and stored in GreenFrog Packaging’s own systems on servers we control, reachable only by staff who need it to run the campaign. We use established providers to send email on our behalf. We are not going to claim anything more dramatic than that — no system is invulnerable, and a company that tells you otherwise is overselling.

Changing your mind

Write to [email protected] and we will remove your signature, your message, and your details, and take down anything already published. No reason needed. If a message has already been delivered to a brand we cannot retrieve that email, but we will stop using it everywhere else and tell you what was sent.

You can also ask us for a copy of everything we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.

About the brands we name

Listing a brand means one thing only: we have no record of them using biodegradable, microplastic-free packaging. It is not an allegation that their products are unsafe, that they have broken any law or regulation, or that they have done anything improper. Ordinary plastic packaging is legal and near-universal in this industry — that is precisely what the campaign is trying to change.

We ask signers to keep messages constructive, and we do not publish messages containing abuse, threats, or claims we cannot support. If you are a brand named here and want to talk to us — or tell us we have your packaging wrong — write to [email protected] and we will correct the record.

The claims we make

The factual statements in this campaign — the persistence of conventional plastic, the microplastics research, the testing behind BioBottles® — are documented at gogreenfrog.com/claims. If you think we have got something wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
